History

The Simpsons File! first bared its name on 1st January 1999. I was getting very bored with the Computer game "Worms" which I received for Christmas so I thought I would give this Website thing a go. The out come was immense, well I thought it was until now. I was getting 50 people a week and I thought it was the best thing around!

Sept '99 - March '00

While looking around other sites I realised my site was pants! Ever since then I have been updating and redesigning the site all the time. This Screen shot is of the site at the beginning of the new term of '99. After much criticism from friends I was considering giving up. I registered with Site Owner which got me the main bulk of hits. At this point I think I was getting about 500 visitors a week. These were mainly all first timers and they didn't return because my site wasn't good enough. This meant I wasn't getting a steady flow of hits. I needed consistency. I was time for a redesign.

April '00 - July '00

On 27th May 2000 I made it into the Simpsons Top 100. By now I was getting about 1500 visitor a week. This is the Screen shoot of the record breaking Simpsons File! when it went in at 56. I found out some new ways to edit graphics which I integrated into the deisgn to give the impression of depth without it being cluttered. Although this site had potential, it still had the disgusting yellow background. It had to go.

August '00 - March '01

This design has by far the best structure to it compared to the rest. The style of the curved areas was kept from the previous design. I found a site called Submit Express. This site got me amazing amounts of traffic. I'm now getting 2000-2500 hits a week which is almost the standard for a really professional Simpsons site. Although, I wanted to get away from the inclosed box look so I redesigned.

April '01 - Present

After 20 hours of restructuring, this is the latest design to hit the web. I chose this colour scheme as I think it brings a fun cartoony feel to the pages. As I'm trying to get down to some work at Uni this will be the final design in the foreseeable future. I have used the latest (at the time) graphics package, Fireworks 4. With a new guestbook from Bravenet and some scripts from Hosted Scripts, I believe this is the best site possible at the moment. Where will it go from here?
